The Farmingdale Community Summit Council was formed during the enormously emotional time following the events of September 11, 2001. The Summit represents a "coming together" of residents, organizations, merchants and houses of worship in the communities that comprise the Farmingdale School District for the common good of all. Our first project was to erect a permanent community 9/11 monument memorializing the emotions, loss and resultant cohesiveness experienced after 9/11 and we perpetually look to assist families in need and to improve our community's overall quality of life.
The Council has evolved into an organization that strives to help every way it can. Our projects raise funds to assist Farmingdale families in need, encourage literacy and continue to honor the memory of those who sacrificed so much on 9/11. We continue to serve as a conduit for the residents, organizations and merchants in the Farmingdale School District community. Our meetings serve as a forum for all organizations to learn about what each group is doing and to get the word out about their upcoming events.
The Community Summit meets throughout the year at the Farmingdale Public
Library. Our membership includes community leaders and organizations and is open to everyone who cares enough to get involved.
Our current projects include:
Annual Expo & Health Fair
Farmingdale Remembers, our annual 9/11 ceremony
Farmingdale Jumps, our charity basketball game
Farmingdale Reads, our literacy program
Farmingdale Family Assistance Fund
